Drybridge Consulting makes use of the Microsoft ClickOnce technology
to simplify the delivery of our software products. As this approach may
be new to you we thought that we would provide you with an overview of
the process and how it applies to Drybridge created programs. You will
require an internet connection to download the program. The program will
be installed on your local computer.
The following topics are reviewed in this (or
related) pages.
Initiate the download
|
|
| |
Somewhere on the product page you will find a button that is
labeled "Download". Clicking this button will initiate the process. |
File Download - Security Warning
|
|
| |
This is the
initial window that will be displayed. You will want to RUN as
saving will only save the setup.exe to your local drive and when you
execute the setup it will continue with the on-line steps below.
Please note that you can cancel the installation process. |

Internet Explorer - Security Warning
|
|

 Note that the
Publisher is identified as "Drybridge Consulting" as this is the
name assigned to our code signing digital certificate. If you see
"Unknown Publisher" then please do not continue with the
installation (please notify us!) as it is possible that you have
been spoofed. (Please note: that if you are using an old version of
your internet browser then you might not have the latest list of
Signing Authorities.) However, better safe than sorry.
If you click on the "Drybridge Consulting" link you will be
provided with information about the digital certificate.
Please note that you can choose to "Don't Run" the program.

 Some Drybridge
Technology tools are delivered as Microsoft Office Add-Ins and will
be installed using this installation dialogue. Other Drybridge
Technology tools use a different dialogue window. The key point is
that the installation program has traced the digital certificate
back to a bona fide Certificate Authority ensuring that the code has
not been tampered with.
Please note that you can choose to "Don't Install" the program.

Installing...
|
|
| |
 Prior to the
installation process for the program commencing the existence of
required prerequisites will be verified and if required they will be
installed first. All Drybridge Tools use the Microsoft .Net
Framework and if you have not previously installed it (or are not
current) you will be asked to install.
For those of you not familiar with the Microsoft .Net Framework
view it as being similar to the Java Runtime Environment.
The installation of the .Net Framework could take some time but
it is well worth it.
If you are downloading your first Office Add-In then you will
most likely require what is termed the VSTO Runtime (the Visual
Studio Tools for Office Runtime). Not as long an installation
process as the .Net Framework but nothing to sneeze at.
The installation of the .Net Framework and VSTO Runtime are one
time events.
|
|
Installation Complete
|
|
| |
Once completed you
will be presented with this window. If you have installed an Office
Add-In then you will find the Add-In on the Add-In Tab in your
application. If you have installed a Windows Application then it
will be added to your Start Menu.
Some applications may be set to start
automatically after installation.
Thanks!
